Stay at the Gallery

The house is a converted pumping station and I make and sell my work from here as well as a couple of galleries.

So, if you are seduced by the idea of spending significant time around sculpture for longer than just a qiuck gallery visit then this might appeal. The setting is very tranquil. It is rural but facilities are not too far away and TR12 6PX is situated in the centre of a triangle with Helford, Coverack and Porthallow as its three points. There are plenty of beautiful walks coves and beaches.

The Pumphouse, as a whole, is let for four periods (four lets… as some maybe one week, ten days or longer) over the summer to customers who have either purchsed a sculpture or have previously stayed in the smaller ‘apartment’ and are familiar with the property. The apartment is available all year round but integrates into the house at the times of the main letting periods.

The apartment is a gallery space, self contained and sleeps two, comfortably. You will be living within close quarters to the sculpture. The facilities and space will easily service four but it is open plan, although with a seperate mezzanine, so evening privacy may be compromised as regards sound. A sofa bed can be suplied on the ground floor.

The property as whole (incl. the apartment) has three double bedrooms and a double bed on the mezzanine in the apartment and sleeps eight. Two kitchens and two bathrooms service the guest and a fifty foot long conservatory and two large lounges allow the guests plenty of room to ‘spread out’.

The landscaped gardens (one third of an acre) bordering a mature woodland contain carefully placed and spaced sculpture, lawns, and secluded seating areas. A stream running by seperating the woodland from the garden is perfect for setting a very tranquil contemplative mood. The stream is an integral part of the pumping station history.

Prices are seasonal but as a guide from june to mid September the cost to stay in the apartment is £85 per night for one or two persons. There is an aditional charge of £20 per person to a maximum of four.

“The great thing about the east side of the Lizard peninsular is that it gets a gentle wash of specialised visitors (walkers, divers, cylists , kayakers), all year round but does not become over busy or crowded.”

“I do run sculpture courses that you can integrate with your stay. Prices for the course are variable with consideration to numbers, comitment and experience. Stone is hard so comitment focus and some ability for endurance is essential.”

I do sculpt at the property mostly but that is sometimes toned down significantly during lets, however, I do run sculpture courses that you can integrate with your stay. Prices for the course are variable with consideration to numbers, comitment and experience. Stone is hard so comitment focus and some ability for endurance is essential.

For the whole property, with the apartment opened up to become part of the house, the price for the let £2800.00 per week. For now I manage the property myself and am felxible as regards dates and the duration of lets.

As mentioned the apartment is open to allcomers but the house is only let to those that have previously stayed in the apartment or those that are existing customers or those that have visited to purchase a sculpture.

If you are an architect, interior designer, or are looking to add sculpture to a project you may be working on then you may feel a short stay might be appropriate to see the sculpture in person. Unfortunately the property is not suitable for small children or dogs.

Please contact me through the website initially if you are interested in staying at the property, purchasing a sculpture, or would like to discuss integrating sculpture into a current scheme.

I travel upcountry, mainly to Cambridge, several times a year so please do not let the logistics of delivering and installing heavy work put you off.
